The Adventures of Elder Clement: August 12

Hiya everyone!

It's been a pretty crazy moves week!

Because of the new office staff that aren't as acquainted with booking travel and everything, I had a 3 day journey in the middle of the week to find my new companion. Our mission is huge.

Elder Leonard and I left on Tuesday evening to Dublin, where we spent the night with like 10 other missionaries in a flat! Sleeping didn't really matter too much anyway, because we all woke up at 1AM to catch a bus to Belfast. After getting to Belfast and waiting and finding our way to the airport, we caught a flight to Edinburgh and got to the mission home at 10AM! President Brown could barely give the 20-somtheing of us any training before the new missionaries arrived. We went and climbed Pratt's Hill in our missionary clothes to be greeted by plenty of tourists at the top! After we re-dedicated our time and efforts to the Lord at the top of the hill, the 50 of us sang 'High on a Mountain Top' and we got a standing ovation by the near 60 tourists there. I think they were all a little confused why a bunch of dressed up teenagers were hiking and singing and smiling together...

Finally, after we got back to the Mission Home and received some instruction, President Brown finished his interviews with the new missionaries and we were assigned our new companions.

My companion is Elder Carson Massey from North Carolina. He's pretty cool! He plays soccer and he did a year of college at UNC. Turns out he's 6 months older than me... hahaha.

We spent the night at the mission home, and after saying goodbye to Elder Leonard and getting a cool posterity picture (attached), we left at3PM to get a long train to the ferry, travelled across the sea, and arrived in Belfast at 10:30PM. We stayed in a member's home, took a train in the morning to Dublin, and ended up getting to Galway around 5PM.

Phew.

Things have been going well since we've gotten back! Elder Massey nervously did some first-time contacting in the city, and someone we met actually ended up coming to church. That was pretty cool -- we'll see him tomorrow.

We've met with Sharon a couple times as well. She's doing better and it looks like she'll be preparing for baptism on the 24th! We're praying for that to happen.

Everything else is great here. I'm enjoying the work and feeling God's hand in my life every day. I'm excited to have a full week full of work.
